We’re delighted to report that Dr. Anton Treuer, professor of Ojibwe at Bemidji State University, author of nine books and the editor of the only academic journal of Ojibwe language, will be speaking Thursday, August 30 at Davies Hall on the ICC campus. The title of his talk is Native American Historical Trauma: “Why don’t they just get over it?”
This is an outstanding opportunity to build personal awareness about an issue that plays large for many students and their families in the IASC region. Dr. Treuer grew up on and near the Leech Lake Reservation, and is an excellent speaker.
Dr. Treuer’s presentation will start at 6:30 pm and is free and open to the public. A dinner will be served at 6:00 in the lobby area in front of the theater. If you’d like to come for dinner, and/or need child care, please RSVP to [email protected] or call 999-5883. Donations of non-perishable items for the Food Bank are welcome.
This presentation is co-hosted by Circles of Support & Circle of Healing. Please help spread the word.
